Pin (tiny connectors on the IC chip)
The male lead on a chip, RAM module,
expansion card or cable connector.
Each pin plugs into its female
counterpart to complete the circuit.
The number of pins reflects the
number of wires/pathways that carry
signals.
The pins of the microprocessor, or
any chip for that matter, carry
electrical signals in and out of
the chip to allow it to function
in a system. Each pin has a
specific function and the data
sheet for the chip will describe
each.
