Record (information)
A record is a collection of related 
data (fields), possibly of different 
data types, in one or more files or 
a database typically in a fixed number 
and sequence. A record in a database 
is an object that can contain one or
more values. 

A record is a thing constituting a 
piece of evidence about the past, 
especially an account kept in 
writing or some other permanent form.
