Before the advent of the computer,
books have a piece of something such
as a piece of thick paper, leather,
fabric or plastic that you put between
the pages of a book so that you can
find a page again quickly. It is that
thing placed in a book to mark a page;
for instance mark where to pick up
when one stops reading.
