File Extension/file format

English (en)

File Extension/file format
A file extension, or filename
extension, is a suffix added
to the name of a file when it
is saved to indicate the file's
format, detailing how the data
within the file is organised. A
file's data must be properly
organised according to its format
to ensure it can be accessed by the
software programme associated with
that specific file type.
