Flaming, also known as roasting, 
is the act of posting insults, 
often including profanity or 
other offensive language, on the 
internet. The act of posting angry 
or insulting messages (flames) to 
an internet newsgroup or other 
online forums. 

A flame war is an exchange of such 
messages.
