Passphrase

English (en)

Passphrase
A passphrase is a memorized secret
consisting of a sequence of words or
other text that a claimant uses to
authenticate their identity. *A
passphrase is similar to a password
in usage but is generally longer for
added security.*

A passphrase, a portmanteau of the
term's “password” and “phrase,” is a
password composed of a sentence or
combination of words. They are used
to help memorize longer and more
complex passwords. Ideally, they are
easy to remember and have meaning to
the user.
